Jennifer Fisher

Jennifer Fisher is the former Associate Pastor of Forefront Church Brooklyn. She co-founded the community in 2011/2012 first as a volunteer, then a part-time staff member, and became ordained as Associate Pastor in 2014. Forefront is a progressive interdenominational community that was founded by a conservative evangelical church planting network. Over the course of their journey, the staff of Forefront led their community through the process of developing a theology for becoming a fully inclusive, independent church and leading community in the current progressive evangelical movement.

As a founding staff member, church planter and preacher, Jen created systems and programming for ministry teams, small groups, community service, and women’s ministries. She’s passionate about coaching support staff who are navigating the path of leading others while finding their own voices within a team. She’s especially interested in coaching women leaders, new preachers, those in need of pastoral care skills, and anyone interested in developing an authentic presence of community and justice.

In 2017 Jen, her husband Bobby, and 8-month old son Aidan, made the difficult decision to relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana where she could earn her Master of Divinity at Christian Theological. She graduates in May 2020, summa cum laude with certificates in Yoga, Spirituality, and Wellness and Intercultural Studies (Chiapas, Mexico). She also took courses with the inaugural cohort of the Ph.D. program for African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric. Jen received a full scholarship and stipend to pursue her master’s education thanks to the Lily Foundation and The Discipleship Project.

While a mom and in school full-time, she served as the founding Events Coordinator of W/ Collective (June 2018-May 2020), Jen led the team that planned, promoted, and raised funding for three national events (Denver, Charlotte, and Scottsdale). W/ and Launchpad regularly co-host events, calls, and learning opportunities for faith leaders around the country.

Finally, Jen developed a passion for ecumenical and interfaith work while studying in seminary. She served as the Seminarian Intern for Outreach Ministries at the Lily-endowed parish of Trinity Episcopal Church, Indianapolis, where her entrepreneurial skills found a way to work even in this 100-year old congregation. She created the role of Sunday Dinner Pastor to offer pastoral care and emergency aid to over 100 individuals from low-income and homeless backgrounds who regularly attend the weekly meal at Trinity’s Outreach Center. In this role she also began a Bible study that is regularly attended by a dozen or more individuals from diverse faith backgrounds every week.

Jen has extensive professional experience in producing, event management, and non-profit leadership in NYC and around the country. An artist and storyteller at heart, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Performance from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a certificate in Shakespeare studies from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
